Hi! Welcome to our Porter Davis Cremorne 41. This site will follow the progress of our home from the start, through every stage until the end. We moved in during August, 2008 - but the whole story is still here, and is updated from time to time. Note: All old links are directed to the homepage now as Blogger have changed things, and forced me to use their server. Sorry! Search for the entry you were looking for using the search box at the top of the page.

Picture this

Hi everyone. One of the things about a home blog, is that once you've moved into the house, the number of blog entries slows down. One reason is that you are reluctant to publish lots of photos of the inside of the house as it's become very personal once you have moved in.

This entry is a little unusual then, as we are showing some picture of our home theatre, because we are finally finished with the furniture and setup. Do we use this room? You bet!

Posters were a birthday present for Bernadette

Closer View

Ok, the screen still needs to be tightened a little to remove the wrinkles

A reminder of the layout. The first photo looks as though the furniture is on one side of the room. Check the "Rumpus" in the plan above and you can see where the screen is positioned.

We chose a number of the components for various reasons - we were after a clean look to the room (no big floor standing speakers), and we wanted the electronics to be hidden away.

The speakers produce an amazing sound experience for their size,
So, for those who may be interested:

Projector: Epson TW3000, from a department store (discounted)
Screen: 94" from Selby Acoustics
AV Receiver: Yamaha RX-V661 from a department store (discounted - lots!)
Blu-ray player: Samsung BD-P1500 (bought new in box from a friend who already had one, and got a free one with a TV deal)
HDMI and Speaker Cabling: Academy TV, Newcomb (Geelong)
Speakers: Difinitive Technology ProCinema 60 (from the same place as the Yamaha, and discounted)
Home Theatre recliners: Furniture Galore (yep, and so far we are very happy with the quality)
Posters: A couple bought online, but most from Minotaur in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne
Cabinets: Modular cabinets from Ikea. There are drawers behind 2 of the doors to store discs.

Hi Perry and Bernadette,

My bad?!!!

I don't know how I missed this update of your blog. I usually get an email :(
I blame champagne when used in conjuction with the DELETE button.

Your HT looks sensational!
The framed posters really add a great "ambience" (spelling? drinking wine while I spell-check).

I have been on the lookout for great movie posters for ages and I'm almost there. Just gotta find find the studs on those HT walls that had over 30 holes in them at one stage :O

I can't see the photos of your "spouting forth" post. I think the links have gone skewy :\

We'll miss you guys on 27th March but we're looking forward to some P&B time in the very near future.

Cheers!
Liana

@AWallance - Hi Andy. Actually we did have the popcorn machine, but it was a cheap one and ended up making expensive burning smells, so we ditched it :-) Look forward to your update.

@Liana and Rob - It's not you, it's me. Actually it's the Blogger people. They forced me to change the way I host the blog, and it broke loads of links and email notifications and so on. Hopefully it's all ok again! The stud finder is a magical thing (just need to make sure Rob is out of the room when you use it). Sorry we can't get there on Rob's birthday, but I'm sure we can make up for it some other time....

@J and A - Hi Andrea, nice to hear from you. Seats are soooo good, especially when reclined. You know that you two have a standing invitation to lob over and try them out. Might even put some popcorn on!
